Brics Expansion, National Currency Use Top Agenda
India has positive intent and an
open mind on Brics Expansion
Expansion of brics and the use of
national currency are among the key agenda listed for the 15thBrics Summit
beginning Tuesday in Johannesburg
Earlier, India's Brics, Sherpa Dam- mu Ravi,
stated that there were many issues that were being discussed by the Brics
states and that the expan- sion of Brics was on the agenda. Ravi mentioned that
the use of national currency for trading and economic activity among the Brics
countries is also on the Summit's agenda.
India has been "constructive" on
the expansion issue, according to Ravi. As far as the inclusion of na- tional
currency in trading is concer- ned, he said, it is not new and it has already
happened.
"There is an opportunity for tra- ding
in your national currency. All the Brics countries together will ta- ke this
decision and discuss that they can trade in their national cur- rency in these
Brics countries," ac- cording to Ravi.
Among prospective new members of Brics are
India's close partners in bi the Gulf and Latin America including Saudi Arabia
UAE ,Iran and Argentina
The Theme of the Brics Summit this
year is BRICS AND AFRICA:PARTNERSHIP FOR MUTUALLY ACCELERATED GROWTH,SUSTAINABLE
DEVELOPMENT AND INCLUSIVE MULTILATERALISM.
